Journal evaluation and publication verification — with evidence, not lists
Since UGC-CARE ended, every institution must judge journals itself. The Research Integrity Desk runs the Journal Trust Rating on any journal in seconds, verifies every publication a faculty member claims, and watches the journals your people publish in — each finding linked to the public registry it came from, so a committee decision survives an appeal.
Journal evaluation
Paste a list of ISSNs or URLs — the journals your faculty publish in, or the ones on an applicant's CV. Get a rated table with the 36 UGC parameters mapped to machine checks, and a committee report you can print and file.
Evaluate journals →Publication verification
Upload "name, DOI" pairs from promotion files, PhD submissions, NAAC/NIRF data. Each DOI is checked: registered, resolving, author actually listed, retraction or correction notices, journal rating.
Verify publications →Watch-list
Put the journals that matter to you on a watch-list; each is re-rated at least every 7 days and you are alerted — by e-mail, on your dashboard and by webhook — whenever its grade changes, before the next promotion cycle, not after.
Manage watch-list →Research Integrity OS — the institution's own record, kept verified
1 · Faculty vault
Every person and every claimed publication — pasted, uploaded as CSV, or found by ORCID iD in OpenAlex — verified at Crossref and doi.org: registered, resolving, the person in the author list, retraction notices, the journal's Trust Rating and Risk score. Re-verified monthly.
Open the vault →2 · Policy engine
Write the institution's rule once — minimum grade, retractions, registration, author listed, a risk ceiling, DOAJ, preservation, a year window — and every row is judged by it. Change the rule and every verdict follows at once, so a NAAC cycle and a promotion cycle can use different rules on the same facts.
Write the policy →3 · Compliance desk
Counts by verdict, department and reason; the retracted list NIRF marks down; CSV for the data cell; a dated report with a QR code and a verification code that a committee can scan. Roles for the research cell, the IQAC and faculty (own record only).
Open the desk →Journal Risk Radar
A second score beside the rating: 0–100 for the behaviour that precedes delisting, hijacking and retraction waves — volume surges, self-citation, citation rings, authorship moving country, retractions, a website that no longer matches the ISSN record. Fifteen written rules, public data only, every journal in your vault re-scored at least every 7 days; for each journal you watch, one mail the week its band rises and a warning the first time a hijack or clone signal appears.
Your risk radar → Score any journal (public) →Free, then a plan
The desk, the vault (up to 25 people), the policy engine, the reports and the radar for ten journals are free. A plan lifts the limits, watches every journal you publish in and opens the API. Prices on the Plans page; nothing sold changes a score.
Plans →For funders and government publishers
Compliance dashboards for funded outputs (open access, licence, repository copy, DOI and ORCID completeness), evaluation of your own journals, and a public-good option: your institution's approved list published as a live, evidence-linked page. Talk to us: mou@smartscholars.in · +91-9885134413.
